We have ten small bones joining at the wrists, two of which come from the forearm and other eight from the hand, which are known as the carpal bones. The wrist is therefore also called carpus. Because of such bone structure, our hands can perform a lot of activities every day such as holding bags, steering a wheel, carrying weight, typing, cooking, etc. It takes consistent and patient work to improve functioning of wrist bones and ligaments. A lot of exercises can be done to improve flexibility and strengthen tendons and muscles around the joint, thereby enhancing the overall functioning. Exercises for wrists are especially recommended if you find pain, stiffness or swelling.
