Hemiplegia, is a form of paralysis, where äóÖhemiäó» means äóÖhalfäó» and äóÖplegiaäó» means äóÖparalysisäó». An incurable neurological condition that affects one half of the body resulting in varying degree of weakness and lack of control of that side is its hallmark. In this condition, either the left or right side of the brain is damaged before or during birth or as a result of a stroke 1, accident, tumor, or brain infection. It most commonly occurs before or during birth, and about 1 in every 1,000 children is diagnosed with hemiplegia.
